KopyKatKait - Breakfast at Tiffany's style

This weekend I tried to take some time to relax and I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's way too many times. I love this era. The clothing is so classy, the gloves, the pearls, the dresses.. all of it!

I decided to do my own spin on Breakfast at Tiffany's today - more modern style- more Kait! :)

Hope you enjoy these! My bun is no where near as great as Audrey's but it will do for now!

KopyKatKait - THE FIRST!

My VERY FIRST edition of KopyKatKait. What this is, is a way for me to show where I may get my inspiration for some outfits. Most times, its from street wear, other bloggers, a painting, maybe even a song! It is also a fun way for me to show you how i interpret an outfit. When i see an outfit i LOVE i will try and interpret the outfit in my own style, not style the outfit exactly. (sometimes I will if i really love it!) But I definitely want my style to be my own! :) My first outfit comes from a blogger named Mara from MLovesM Her style I would describe as soft vintage chic. She always has beautiful pieces, and follows trends so well, but in a simple, understated way. Plus she just got married and the pictures on her blog from her wedding are to DIE for!
Here is her outfit today:

And my interpretation of that outfit:  :)

I loved the red mixed with a light blue button up. Instead I chose a light denim shirt, with a high waisted red skirt instead of red shorts. I used a chunkier belt to play up my waist line, and added my favorite cheetah infinity scarf to pull of the look. I tried my oxfords on with the outfit, and thought I looked like a dork, and not as cute as Mara.
So instead I added a Brown flat, and vintage accessories!
Hope you enjoyed this post!! :) Feedback is my favorite!

Thank you tami :)

My Cousin Tami's a great inspiration for my blog. She takes amazing pictures for my blog, and is always coming up with new ideas for blog posts. She suggested this questionnaire she saw on our cousin's blog and asked me to fill it out as well! HERE WE GOOOO

  2. 2)Favorite fashion designers: This is an impossible question for me because I could name about a billion.. But Right now I'm really loving: Elizabeth and James (Mary kate and Ashley Olsen's line) I also love Marc Jacobs, I love everyone Halston made for Jackie O, Nicole Miller is amazing, and Alexander McQueen's stuff was always incredible and original, and I'm really loving everything Missoni :)
This is an Elizabeth and James blazer I saw when I interned at Nordstrom last summer, and about poo'ed my pants. It could be yours for 700 dollars, practically free right?

  3. 3)Item of clothing you would never throw out: My High school Uniform Cardigan, I still wear it all the time, and It has been my favorite cardigan for fall.
  4. 4)How would you define your personal style: I really like anything high fashion, or trendy but want the trend to look like my own, and not straight off of a mannequin.

  5. 5)What is your own fashion trademark: I don't know If I have a specific trademark necessarily. I never walk out of the house without atleast 3 accessories.. that maybe could be one!

check out myyy braid!

I've been wearing my flared jeans a lot lately because it is a nice break from skinnys. I feel like I need to wear them a lot before I have to retire them for the winter. Its not fun slushing around in the snow with your jeans dragging in the mush. And this necklace has been on my neck consistently for about 2 weeks now since I bought it. I justify that it matches with everything, just so I have an excuse to wear it over and over.

And a side note: Ok for the longest time I made my sister braid my bangs when I was having a bad day. It was like my default hair-do. And then she thought it was a good idea to get married or something and move out, thus me never having braided bangs. And this week I decided to attempt it on myself. AND I FINALLY DID IT! Its been my life dream to be able to french braid. I can die a happy woman.

Concert Attire

Recently I was asked to do a post on what I would put together for a concert. I used an online Program called "Polyvore" to make these outfits.

Some Concert Clothing Tips:

  • No matter how cute your chunky sweater is, DONT wear it! All concerts are really hot, especially if it is a smaller venue. Stick to wearing layers
  • I would always suggest a sling bag or clutch, rather than a large purse. Most venues won't let you bring in your giant camera anyways, so don't kill your back and carry something small! Stick to the essentials : lipgloss, gum, wallet, your ticket, etc.
  • As far as hair goes I always try to do something where my bangs are pinned, or braided and off my face. I hate those pictures where you just look sweaty, and greasy.
  • Stick to flats or wedges if you can. You can still make a statement with your outfit without killing your feet. Unless you have a high tolerance for heels than go for it!

This first outfit option is something basic, that I feel like most people can pull off. This is dark skinny's (or whatever fit you prefer) paired with a black shirt. The shirt pictured is half leather, half cotton for extra drama, but you can just pair a black shirt, flowy or tailored. I added more dramatic accessories, and neutral flats to pull the outfit together. If you are more of a silver person, go with silver accessories, instead of gold. I just prefer gold.

Next I picked a little dressier outfit. This incorporates all the fall colors, and colored denim. I used this orange necklace to add a pop of color, and then again with a neutral colored shoe. I like to use a few different color palletes, so this isn't probably an outfit for a really matchy-matchy person. If you fall in that category, maybe refer to the first outfit! :)

Lastly, I picked a higher drama outfit. Colored denim is really in, and I love the minty green trend. A lot of girls like to wear something with sequins, or some kind of sparkle to concerts to make a statement. So I paired an all sequins shirt with these minty pants, and some killer cheetah heels. All the tops I chose are short/ quarter length sleeves, because again, usually if it is a smaller venue it will get pretty toasty. :)

concert 4

I went to Mat Kearney this past thursday, and I wore a sequins gold shirt, black skinnys, and gold flats. I kind of mixed all three of these outfits examples together. I didn't wear a sling bag, or a clutch and I regretted it after the show!

Hope these outfits create inspiration for your favorite upcoming shows or concerts :)
